The Anne of Green Gables Manuscript

CREATIVE SERVICES, WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT, SEO

THE PROJECT

The Anne Manuscript website is a collaboration amongst Confederation Centre of the Arts, L.M. Montgomery Institute, University of Prince Edward Island and Digital Museums Canada. Its main feature is an extensive breakdown of the manuscript for Lucy Maud Montgomery’s renowned novel Anne of Green Gables, supported with information about the published work, its impact, and its many iterations and variations.

This website, clocking in at over 1,000 pages, required collaboration and project management with a number of stakeholders, and the extensive use of a full compliment of technical and design skills to accommodate accessibility, video and audio, custom built pop ups, annotation and notes, links, ultra high resolution zoom-in capabilities, among others, while offering both a French-English option and dynamic formatting.

Since its launch in January 2023, it has gained a global reputation as one of the essential Anne and L.M. Montgomery resources.

Each page of the manuscript was scanned, transcribed and annotated by Emily Woster and Elizabeth R. Epperly. The 20+ articles found on the website were contributed by a number of scholars, academics, authors and stakeholders, including Woster and Epperly.
